Community Awareness
The objective of this unit is to reduce the stigma against mental illness, increase information about common mental disorders in communities, and encourage the use of psychosocial and psychiatric services when symptoms of emotional distress appear; in the provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu and Ituri.
Psychosocial services information
Coopera Congo identified 35 associations dedicated to psychosocial care services in a ratio of 10 km around Mutima. The objective was to find out about complementary services to those provided by MUTIMA to be able to refer people who need them.
For example, adult literacy, vocational training for young people, recreational activities for children, financial support for education and health, etc...
Free Psychological Care
Facilitate quality psychotherapy for all sections of the population who need professional support to heal psycho-emotional problems that do not allow them to move forward in life, in 5 health zones in the province of South- Kivu, 3 health zones in North Kivu province and 3 health zones in Ituri province.
Free Psychiatric Care
To provide modern pharmacological treatment with second and third-generation psychotropic drugs, accompanied by psychotherapy specific to the disorders diagnosed, in 5 health zones in the province of South Kivu, 3 health zones in the province of North Kivu, and 3 health zones in Ituri province.
Training Psychologists & Social Workers
The goal is to organize quality training on mental health, psychosocial support, and modern psychotherapy for doctors, nurses, psychologists, psychosocial assistants, and teachers from 19 territories of the provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu, and Ituri (representatives of the 100 health zones and sub-division in the case of education).
Research on Mental Health
Mutima wants to find partners from universities or national and foreign organizations that support and finance basic research in mental health and psychosocial support in the 3 provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu, and Ituri.
